Ingredients
5 cups fresh cherries, pitted
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 Tbs cornstarch
2 Tbs fresh lemon juice
1 tsp almond extract
Directions
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cherries, water and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 to 10 minutes. Cook until the cherries have released their juices. Stir together the cornstarch, lemon juice and almond extract until smooth. Add to the cherry mixture. Cook for 2 to 3 more minutes or until mixture is thick. Let cool before using.
